SUN believes that through education, encouragement, and empowerment, knowledge leads to understanding and action.
As leaders in healthcare, SUN members have the passion and determination to create change and to make a difference – for our patients, our profession, our colleagues and our Union. It is this passion and knowledge that makes our Union strong and builds the foundation of our education program.
Join us at the 2018 Education Conference on November 8 at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, to discuss the current political and professional environment, addressing professional practice concerns, understanding your collective agreement, building leadership skills, and so much more.
Following a morning plenary, the afternoon portion of the 2018 Education Conference will be offering two (2) new concurrent sessions. Levels 1 and 2, from the previous year’s Education Conference, have been combined into a new and exciting course called “Knowledge = Understanding”; level 3 is now called “Understanding = Action”.
Knowledge = Understanding
This introductory session offers participants a look at who SUN is, the valuable role members play within their Union, a preliminary understanding of the collective agreement and bargaining process, tools for enforcing and resolving workplace issues – and more.
Who should attend this session? The information presented during this session is best suited for members new to SUN or members newly involved in the Union.
Understanding = Action
Building on the foundations set during “Knowledge = Understanding” this session will take a look at the broader labour movement, business vs social unionism, SUN’s decision-making model, and the importance of member engagement.
Who should attend this session? The information presented during this session is best suited for members who have previously attended the Education Conference.
