Negotiations Priorities & Background Information

Prior to the expiration of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement, SUN hosts a Bargaining Conference to present ad discuss the current professional practice environment, member concerns. and the political climate impacting the next round of bargaining. During the Conference members review and discuss the bargaining priorities and principles. as well as provide additional insight and guidance to the Board of Directors and Provincial Negotiations Committee.

The bargaining priorities for the current round of negotiations are:

  • Protection of the bargaining unit*
  • Workload
  • Safe staffing
  • Solutions to health delivery challenges
  • Maintenance of competitive wages and premiums

*This priority was added following discussions and ratification during the 2013 Bargaining Conference

In advance of the 2013 Bargaining Conference SUN published a complete resource guide, in the Bargaining Conference issue of SUNSpots, for members to review in preparation for discussions during the Conference This issue of SUNSptos includes a review of SUN's annual public opinion poll; a review of tile bargaining priorities as determined by SUN's annual membership poll and set by the SUN Board of Directors; and a complete environmental scan - both professionally and politically on a provincial and national level.
