The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses is a thriving organization thanks, in part, to members who step forward and run for positions on the Board of Directors. Being on the Board is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of SUN, and to have a positive impact on registered nurses across Saskatchewan.

My Name is Laurelle Pachal and I work in MEDEC at the Regina General Hospital. I am running for re-election to the Position of Base Hospital Rep on SUN’s Board of Directors. I have held this position since 2010. I also serve on the RGH OH&S committee. I am a dedicated advocate for the empowerment of registered nurses. As registered nurses we are often challenged in providing safe, best practice nursing care to our patients. We have important insight into what isn’t working in the health care system, and what could be done to reduce costs, improve safety, and to create a better system for nurses and patients. Often it seems like the budget is more important than the care we give and that our perspectives are ignored. But collectively we make change and we make the difference. In this time of transformation, it is imperative that voice of nursing is heard and has impact. I promise to reflect your values and priorities on your Board of Directors. Together with you as members, and SUN staff, we will leverage the profile and credibility of registered nursing, and to continue to press for improvements for our working conditions, for our patients, and our healthcare system. I thank you for your consideration and vote, and I look forward to serving you for another 2 years.
Hello friends and colleagues! My name is Christine Schaeffer and I am running to be your Regina Base Hospital Representative. I have been a SUN member since 2001 and have enjoyed working in the Pasqua OR, on 5A and currently in Ambulatory care at the Regina General Hospital. I have met many great nurses with working both sites and want to continue and foster both new and old relationships as your new representative. It would be an honour to be your liaison between your workplace and the SUN Board of directors and Local Union Presidents. I have currently been the acting vice president for Local 106 and have built a strong rapport with both the Pasqua Hospital and Regina General Hospital presidents. The Vice President job has given me an extensive knowledge base on the workings of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and how it can be applied to support our members in their careers. I currently hold the Co-Chair for the Nursing Advisory Committee at the Regina General Hospital and the treasurer position for the Sun District Counsel. I am seeking this new role as an incredible opportunity to increase my union involvement. Thank you for your vote consideration on becoming your Regina Base Hospital Representative!
Saskatoon Base Hospitals Representative
Jan Dziadyk Registered Nurse
Base Hospital Saskatoon Representative
I am seeking election for Saskatoon Base Hospital Representative. I am asking for your vote to serve on your behalf.
Currently I am honoured to be serving on your behalf on the negotiating team towards recieving a fair collective agreement, as I did on our previous CBA.
As Registrered Nurses we will need to be advovates for our patients, to navigate through the changes happening around us. If elected, I will commit to working with you and help with navigating us through the changes around us! As a Patient Care Supervisior for our three base hospitals in Saskatoon, I feel I can help with this navigation, or I will find the right person who can.
I ask you for your support
RE-ELECT Lori Powell as your Saskatoon Base Hospital Representative!
I currently work at RUH as a float pool registered nurse and have been active within Local 75 in a variety of positions. These positions include Ward Representative, Junior Executive Member, OH&S Chair and currently PR & Education Chair. This past year I have often filled in when needed as Local 75 President. This has enhanced my understanding of our collective agreement, and more importantly, allowed me to actively represent our members. Attending local and annual meetings of all three sites, hosting member engagements, and providing support through calls and emails has proven exciting, engaging and successful. It is through these engagements that I have successfully brought forward the ideals and concerns of all three sites to the board of directors. This position must continue to reach beyond a single local and represent the needs of ALL Saskatoon Hospital members. I am a proud Registered Nurse, a strong vocal advocate and a leader for positive change. I would like to continue to learn, grow and challenge myself to create a positive impact at the provincial level. Attending leadership and union education opportunities will remain a priority, ultimately strengthening my voice and my effectiveness in representing our members. I will continue to put forward the needed time and dedication required to succeed in this role. It would be my continued honour to remain YOUR Saskatoon Base Hospital Representative and I thank you all for your support.
