Leadership Education Series: Local Presidents Workshop

When: November 17, 2021 – November 18, 2021

This half-day virtual workshop, designed for Local Presidents, will once again take a look at the complex and changing practice environment, the crucial roles our leaders play in protecting our collective rights and advocating for SUN members, and the processes in place to assist SUN Locals in understanding and navigating their role representing members.

During this session, we will dive into:

  • Defining roles within SUN
  • Local Executives' roles & responsibilities
  • Educating members on union processes
  • Empowering members to use their voices and democratic rights
  • Addressing members concerns -- tips, tools and resources for Locals

The Local Presidents Workshop will be delivered via Zoom Webinar, so a computer, tablet or mobile device with an internet connection is required. In addition, it is recommended that in order to be seen and heard by workshop facilitators, participants use a webcam and wired earphones with an integrated microphone.

WHO:    This workshop is designed for Local Presidents or designate.
 Additional Local Executive members may attend as locally funded or unfunded members.
WHEN: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17
Session A:  1300-1600

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18
Session B:  0900-1200
WHERE: Join us on your computer, tablet or smartphone using Zoom. 
A device with sound, microphone, and internet connection is required to participate. Utilizing a webcam is strongly encouraged.
Access information will be provided to registered members one-two days in advance of your scheduled session.
Workshop materials will be mailed to registrants the week prior to the workshop.
FUNDING: Provincial funding is available to attend one (1) above the above-noted session times; funding will be assigned to eligible Local Presidents or designates only. 

Provincially-funded seats are limited to 100 seats between the two sessions and will be determined by random draw. For this virtual event, provincial funding will be limited to wages as per Membership Policy 026-M-2007; applicable for only one session.

To be eligible for the funding draw, members must complete the registration form by 1200 on November 5, 2021; selected members will be notified via email by November 8, 2021.

Locally Funded or Unfunded Members
Locally funded or unfunded members are welcome; please register by the deadline to receive your workshop materials in advance of your scheduled session.
