SUN believes that through education, encouragement, and empowerment, knowledge leads to understanding and action.
As leaders in healthcare, SUN members have the passion and determination to create change and to make a difference – for our patients, our profession, our colleagues and our union. It is this passion and knowledge that makes our union strong and builds the foundation of our education program.
SUN offers multiple education sessions throughut the year, including virtual and in-person opportunities (when appropriate). These education sessions are free for members and cover a variety of subjects, including professional practice, labour relations and the function of the union. Educational opportunities range from annual conferences and schools, sessions focused on topical and relevant issues facing the registered nursing profession, and our Leadership Education Series.
SUN also offers member information sessions throughout the year. These sessions cover union processes, labour relations, and professional practice issues that members are facing, as well as mental health and wellness topics. These sessions are always timely and address issues that impact members in real time.
