Wellness Session: Lateral Violence

When: March 17, 2026

Location: Virtual

Wellness

Join us on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 09:00 or 12:00 for a one-hour presentation on Lateral Kindness facilitated by Sheri Coburn MSW, RSW, from the Crisis & Trauma Resources Institute (Winnipeg, MB).

At its core, lateral violence is misdirected anger. It causes us to harm others in response to what’s been done to us by someone else. This can cause a complex web of infighting that damages relationships, organizations, and communities.

But it is possible to break the cycle of lateral violence through a concept known as Lateral Kindness.

Lateral Kindness is grounded in Indigenous values that foster healthier relationships, such as respect and fairness. In this one-hour session, we’ll explore the impacts of lateral violence and learn practical steps to resolve conflicts and help break the cycle.
