Position Statement: Linda Albert

Network Representative for Saskatoon Candidate ~ Linda Albert

It is with anticipation that I submit my name for Saskatoon Network Representative.

I have spent the majority of my nursing career in Public Health. I started my Public Health Nurse (PHN) career in Moose Jaw, then as a Maternal Health Nurse /Lactation Consultant with Healthy & Home/ Breastfeeding Centre in Saskatoon.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I returned to immunizing and worked in multiple roles for the past three years, as an Immunizer, and Team Lead for COVID-19 vaccine clinics.

During this time, I reoriented to the PHN role.

I also worked for a brief time with the Healthy Mother Healthy Baby program.

I presently work at Healthy & Home, and work casual as a PHN in Child Health Clinics / COVID-Flu clinics.

I enjoy the variety of community work and the opportunity to interact with nurses from different community settings.

I have attended SUN meetings and events for the past 20 years. I have been a Healthy & Home representative for Local 257.

I have benefitted from SUN’s support and meeting SUN’s teams at provincial events.

I hope that I can encourage nurses to come to their local meetings and become involved in other SUN events.

Sometimes all it takes is someone to encourage and invite you. I would love to mentor other nurses to become active and learn what our SUN union can do to support us in our workplace.
