Position Statement: Lynne Eikel

Network Representative for Saskatoon Candidate ~ Lynne Eikel

It has been an honour to represent the members of the Saskatoon network for the past 8 years and it would be an honour to continue to serve you for the next 2 years. The reality we have faced within our workplace over these past few years has changed substantially and it doesn’t look like change will slow down anytime soon. SUN has begun an internal restructuring to align with the single employer. Change within SUN began with a restructuring of our board representation and we now elect a representative from each network which reduces the board size from 12 to 11 members. We did this through involving the membership and met in September of 2022 at a special meeting to solidify that we were moving in the right direction. We now have to consider how our locals are functioning so that we have strong and effective representation for all members across the province. Many locals are struggling and without functioning locals we become vulnerable to the whims of the employer and risk weakening the collective bargaining agreement. Solidarity is key. As we begin the consultation process with members over the next few months we come to the table to share our vision and give you the opportunity to give feedback. We look forward to having these important conversations with many of you as we embrace a new vision to benefit all SUN members. Together we can move forward. Together we will be stronger.
