As per Resolution 49 voted on and carried at the Annual Meeting to amend Bylaw 8.10, the total number of Finance Committee positions has increased by two for a total of six.

Bylaw 8.10 now reads:

The Finance Committee shall be comprised of six (6) members: the President and the First Vice-President and four (4) elected members. The First Vice-President shall be the chairperson.

As a result, the Finance Committee now has two vacant positions for By-Election.

The Nominations Committee, in accordance with Bylaw 4.23, hereby calls for and issues a Nomination Form, and requests each of the Locals and individual members to consider and submit nominations of suitable candidates from the membership of the Union for election.

The following position will be elected in 2026:

  • Finance Committee – two (2) vacant positions

Two members for the Finance Committee are to be:

  1. elected for a one (1) year term (Bylaw 4.27),

  2. nominees shall be from the general membership (Bylaw 4.07), and

  3. in accordance with Bylaw 8.10

As directed by the Board of Directors, a by-election outside of the Annual Meeting may be held for any vacancies that occur due to situations under Bylaw 4.23. The Nominations Committee shall conduct the by-election utilizing discretionary timelines. (Bylaw 4.32 ii)

Each SUN Local is encouraged upon communication of this Call for Nominations, to hold a meeting of the Local’s membership for the purpose of considering and nominating candidates.

In accordance with Bylaw 4.09, each nomination shall be on an official Nomination Form with the consent, in writing, of the nominee stating acceptance of office if elected.

Locals and members should note that the deadline for submitting nominations to the Regina SUN office is 1200 hours, June 19, 2026. Nominations received after the deadline of 1200 hours, June 19, 2026 will not be accepted.

Locals and members should also note that they can nominate SUN members other than those from their own Local as long as the basic rules of nominations are followed. For example, members of the Local in North West 5 could nominate a SUN member from the Local of North West 2 to the Finance Committee.
