After careful and thoughtful consideration, in response to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its evolving impact, the leadership at the United Nurses of Alberta (UNA), the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) and the Manitoba Nurses Union (MNU) have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming CFNU Prairie Labour School scheduled for June 8 -10, 2020, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
While the three organizations were looking forward to putting on this educational opportunity for our members, we have decided to err on the side of caution as it would not be practical to proceed under these circumstances.
To ensure those affected by the virus are able to receive the care they need, we feel it is crucial the nurses of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are available to care for the citizens of our home provinces in the weeks to come. In addition, we know that large public gatherings are problematic as our population attempts to slow the spread of COVID-19, and as part of our social responsibility to "flatten the curve," we're taking this important, pro-active step to keep our members, our guests and the public safe and healthy.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your provincial organization.
Take care and stay safe.
