The Board of Directors met for one (1) day in October (16th), in Regina, to review the Finance Committee’s recommendations on the next annual budget; as well as the current political, professional and strategic environments. The following is a summary of the financial and business decisions made at this meeting.
BOARD DECISIONS
- The Board approved the draft 2019 Budget as recommended by the Finance Committee.
FINANCIAL DECISIONS
- The Board approved a donation of $1500 to the striking workers at UFCW Moose Jaw Co-op.
BOARD/SDC MEETING
On October 17th, the Board joined our SDC Chairpersons and Employment Relations Officers in Saskatoon to receive presentations from:
- Donna Trainor, SUN’s Executive Director gave a report on the Political Environment
- Tracy Zambory, SUN President gave a report on SUN’s Member Engagement
- Amber Alecxe, SUN Director of Government Relations gave a report on Transformational Change and the 2018 Summit.
- Barb Abele and Melissa McGillivray Nurse Practice Officers gave a presentation on “What tools do SUN members have when there is Violence in the Workplace”
- Karen Loyns, Workplace Safety Specialist from the Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health presented the “Provincial Healthcare Violence Prevention Framework”. Karen walked members through the work that was done and the On-line tools available for implementation of the Program and the Tools.
