Happy National Nurses Week,
This Week, we celebrate The Power of Nurses to Transform Health.
And here in Saskatchewan, we see that power every day.
You are the foundation of our health system. The constant. The coordinators. The critical thinkers at the centre of care.
You assess, respond, adapt and lead in real time, in every setting, for every patient.
And you are not just part of the system – You are the drivers of change within it.
You solve problems before they escalate.
You connect the pieces others cannot. You move care forward.
We have seen it time and again – When we follow the leadership of registered nurses, health care improves.
The environment we are working in has changed.
For registered nurses, and for unions, how we create change looks very different today.
But your strength has never come from a single moment of action.
It comes from your expertise, your credibility, and your collective voice as trusted professionals. And that voice still carries weight – and it always will.
We see that leadership today.
Nurse practitioners are expanding access to primary care across Saskatchewan.
Registered psychiatric nurses are advancing mental health and addictions care in communities across this province.
And the next step forward is clear – safe registered nurse to patient ratios.
Because when you are responsible for too many patients, care is stretched.
But when staffing is safe, patients are safer, outcomes improve, and the system works the way it should.
That is not theoretical. It is proven. And it matters.
And so does the value you bring.
This week, and every week, you deserve to be recognized for the care you provide, the leadership you show, and the future WE are building together.
Because the power to transform health starts with you.
And it’s time that value is fully recognized. Happy National Nursing Week and
THANK YOU.
