The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) and Extendicare Canada Inc. achieved a tentative two-year collective agreement today after less than two days of bargaining.

“We are extremely pleased to have concluded bargaining so quickly and credit this to the collaborative spirit in which it was conducted,” says SUN First Vice-President, Tracy Zambory. “This is an excellent example of how collective bargaining can work.”

Negotiations began in Regina on Tuesday September 11, 2012 with the tentative agreement being reached in just one and half days.

SUN members working under the SUN/Extendicare Canada Inc. collective agreement primarily work in long-term care in four facilities across the province. The Memorandum of Settlement will now be taken to these members for ratification within the coming weeks.

SUN represents almost 9,000 Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), Registered Nurse(Nurse Practitioner)s (RN(NP)s) and graduates in the province.
