Thinking about running for a position in your local?

• Review the Local Bylaws Prototype to learn more about the duties of the Local Executive officers.

• Chat with a member of the Local Executive to discuss the role of the non-executive position you are interested in.

• Submit your Nominations Form by the September 11, 2026, noon deadline

  • You'll find the nominations form included with the call for nominations.

Did You Know? NEW for 2026 Local Election

Following member discussion and approval at the 2026 Annual Meeting, the following changes will be in effect for the 2026 election period:

• Timelines associated with Local elections have been condensed - review the dates to remember listed below.

• Candidates in local elections may provide position statements and a photo, as per Membership Policy 023-M-2007.

  • This is not a requirement to run for a position, but always a nice touch when letting people know who you are.

    • Position Statement = maximum of 250 words

    • Photo = include as a separate file (jpg, png or pdf)

• If an election is required in your local, candidates will follow the Campaign Guidelines as laid out for provincial elections, as outlined in Membership Policy 023-M-2007

Dates to Remember

• Friday, September 11, 2026 @ 1200 - Nominations are due

• Thursday, September 17, 2026 - Ticket of Nomination will be issued

  • As per Membership Policy 023-M-2007, there will be a dedicated campaign period when the Ticket of Nominations is released and concluding when the vote closes.

• Friday, September 25, 2026 @ 0900 - Polls open for voting  

• Tuesday, September 29, 2026 @ 1200 - Polls close
