[April 6, 2020] As the number of health care workers infected with COVID-19 continues to soar across Canada and across the globe, there’s no doubt fears about your own safety are growing.
These fears are very real – and certainly justified – during this unprecedented time.
We know there are times you feel very concerns, even afraid, for yourselves, your loved ones and your patients.
I want to reassure you that SUN hears you and we are fighting for you.
The biggest worries we have heard from you centre around personal protective equipment.
We know this is your top priority and a critically important issue we raise on your behalf every single day in our meetings with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Ministry of Health.
We advocate for you to receive the highest level of personal protective equipment in every situation.
As we face COVID-19, we continue to demand health care workers are kept safe. With so many unknowns regarding how COVID-19 is transmitted, we do not accept a bare-minimum approach to safety.
I want to reassure you that during these uncertain times, your safety is at the centre of everything SUN does – in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
We will not rest until you are safe.
Finally, I want to thank you all for your fearless and selfless dedication to your patients during this global crisis.
We cannot overcome COVID-19 without your tireless efforts alongside your health colleagues and the many other essential service workers in our communities.
We are all in this together – and together we will beat COVID-19.
