[Global News] REGINA – The Saskatchewan government and the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) have reached a tentative deal on a new four-year-contract. The SMA is recommending acceptance of the contract.
“We believe we have reached a reasonable agreement for Saskatchewan’s physicians,” said SMA president Dr. Mark Brown. “This agreement will keep us competitive with our neighbouring provinces so we can both recruit and retain physicians.”
“I am pleased we’ve reached a tentative agreement with the SMA that supports fair and competitive compensation,” added Health Minister Dustin Duncan.
Terms of the contract have not been announced.

The deal is retroactive to April 1, 2013 and expires on March 31, 2017. Ratification votes are expected to be completed by late July.
The SMA represents more than 2,200 doctors in the province.
