It is our pleasure to welcome Dean Job as SUN's Director of Labour Relations. Dean joined SUN on May 24, 2022, and brings extensive senior leadership experience in union administration and labour relations. Dean has led organizations in both New Brunswick and Saskatchewan, most recently as the Executive Director of the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS). He has been the lead negotiator at many provincial bargaining tables, actively participated in strategic planning, brings a collaborative approach to managing workplace issues, and believes in strong staff teams. Dean is well-versed in healthcare and is acutely aware of the current issues faced by members and unions within Saskatchewan. Welcome, Dean!
It is bittersweet to bid goodbye to Marg Romanow, Colin Byas, Carl Veistrup, and Barb Abele as these long-standing SUN staff members retire. Each has demonstrated leadership and commitment to SUN and SUN members and we thank them for their hard work and dedication. Barb’s last day of work will be October 10, 2022, Carl’s last day of work will be September 9, 2022, Colin’s last day of work will be June 21, 2022, and Marg completed work on May 31, 2022.
Marg will continue to act as SUN's SHEPP Trustee during her retirement and we are thankful for her desire to do so. Jeff Mayer, Employment Relations Officer (ERO), will now be assisting members with their disability appeals.
As always, members and Locals who require assistance with return to work questions and duty to accommodate issues can reach out to their ERO. First-Vice President Denise Dick, Research Officer Aidan Conway, and ERO Darren Kurmey will continue to support SUN's benefits work.
