On June 24, 2024, SUN communicated that we expected issues to arise from the implementation of the Saskatchewan Health Authority's (SHA) Administrative Information Management System (AIMS). All members were informed of potential challenges anticipated with AIMS and asked to inform their SUN Labour Relations Officer (LRO) or Local President if they experienced problems.
Since our initial communication, we have become aware that members are experiencing significant issues with the system that seemingly cannot adhere to certain long-standing practices and the application of articles outlined in the collective agreement.
These issues include but are not limited to:
In addition, we hear members' frustration regarding the time it takes to complete tasks in the system, such as verifying their information is accurate, ensuring the system is working, and managing their payroll and schedules. In short, navigating AIMS is preventing SUN members from delivering safe patient care, which is our members' top priority.
Unfortunately, the significant number of issues caused by the Employer's implementation of AIMS has compromised our members and resulted in violations of the collective agreement. SUN has no other option but to seek resolution through the grievance process and has filed provincial grievance(s) to ensure members' rights are protected.
We want to be clear with members that despite the grievance(s) being filed, the AIMS system will surely proceed regardless of the errors and challenges.
SUN members should continue to alert the Employer regarding issues they experience with AIMS and request resolution. We ask members to continue to alert their Local President or LRO if these issues remain unresolved and/or have labour relations implications. In addition, it’s of utmost importance that each SUN member keeps copies of any documentation related to issues with AIMS.
