On May 3, 2020, SUN wrote to Kevin Zimmerman, the SHA's Executive Director of Labour and Employee Relations to express concerns regarding contradictory information within the SHA’s recent response to staffing in areas of the COVID-19 outbreak.
In short, SUN has been informed by members that orders have been made by Medical Health Officers in both the La Loche and Lloydminster areas declaring that any medical health professionals who deliver care in those regions will be required to self-isolate after providing that care.
These orders are different from that of the rest of the province, which does not require healthcare professionals to self-isolate after providing care to COVID-19 patients, or suspected COVID-19 patients.
SUN, on behalf of our members, is requesting clarification. The protection of our members is paramount and must be ensured as registered nurses work to provide patient care on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please find the entire letter here.
