SUN Provincial is pleased to announce that 50 SUN members will receive Provincial funding to attend the Canadian Labour Congress Convention. Originally we announced that 12 members would receive Provincial funding.
Our national president, Linda Silas, has announced her intention to run for President of the Canadian Labour Congress.
She’s asked all member unions of the CFNU to consider increasing the number of funded members to the convention in order to support this landmark election: a registered nurse vying for leadership of the Canadian Labour Congress.
Your Board of Directors met last week and discussed this request and we’re pleased to advise that the number of funded members will be increased to 50 SUN members.
A further random draw will be conducted of the members that previously applied for funding (we had over 100 members apply). If you’re selected you will be receiving an email over the next several days.
Please note: SUN can send 235 SUN members to CLC Convention. Members who are not among the 50 selected for Provincial funding are encouraged to speak with their Locals about receiving Local funding. We strongly encourage Locals to consider these funding requests.
Hotels near the venue in Vancouver are quickly filling up, but as the city has a great public transportation system, staying at a more distant hotel is always an option.
Please contact Tracy Zambory, SUN President if you have any questions regarding the CLC Convention.
