As we reported following the June 5 & 6 Special Meeting, Locals will now be created within a subnetwork, base hospital or certified bargaining unit. Existing Locals will remain in place until the transition to the new local structure occurs, with all new Locals' work being completed by February 28, 2025.
Given the importance of this work, over the next few months, Board members will organize meetings with current Locals to begin the steps to transition. SUN's priority is to support current Locals and members during this time and answer any questions they may have.
During their June Meeting, the Board of Directors elected to redirect SUN Network Leads to assist in the local transition. The work usually undertaken by the SUN Network Leads will be assessed, planned and prioritized to ensure support to members and locals remains uninterrupted.
This is an exciting and historic time for SUN and its members as we lay the foundation of our new local structure.
