751 souls lost. 751 souls gone. 751 souls removed from history.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the discovery of 751 unmarked graves found by the Cowessess First Nations near the former Marieval
Indian Residential School outside of Regina.
Our hearts grieve for the families affected by today’s tragic discovery. Our hearts ache beyond comprehension for the residential school survivors who have had to endure such immense pain and anguish and now have to relive such indescribable trauma and suffering.
The devastation caused by residential schools continues as ongoing, living trauma for many Indigenous families and communities. As the people of Cowessess First Nation heal and honour their loved ones, we commit to stand by them in support.
More than ever, we commit to listen, learn, and embrace Truth and Reconciliation while we work to address the difficult truth of racism
that continues in this country.
Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme, FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron, and all the First Nations communities across this province and country - we have heard you and we stand with you in your call to action to end racism - no matter how uncomfortable.
