Findings from an April 2025 survey of 1,791 Saskatchewan registered nurses, conducted on behalf of SUN by Praxis Analytics, paint a worrying picture of severly compromised quality, safety, and access to timely health care in the province as a direct result of chronic registered nursing shortages.
82 per cent reported patients being put at risk in the past 12 months due to short staffing, while 92 per cent reported service reductions for the same reason. From delayed or cancelled procedures to excessively long wait times and missed treatments, Saskatchewan's patients are experiencing the fallout of registered nurse shortages daily throughout the system.
